My 2023 Season Recap

Another great year in the books for myself and all of my hunting friends. First of all my customers brought in a lot of great bucks and toward the end of the season even got a few foxes and a coyote. I appreciate all the business and it was great hearing everyone’s success stories.

I had a rollercoaster of a season. I started the year very strong on a turkey hunt in Texas where I was able to take my brother Brent out for his first time hunting turkeys. We spent 3 days chasing birds and exploring the beautiful Texas landscape. We ended up with 3 toms and Brent harvesting his first turkey. It was an amazing experience and a lot of fun spending time with him in Texas.

My deer season was a bit of a struggle, I started the season with a partially torn MCL so I couldn’t do my regular Maryland Public land hunts with my friends it was just a bit too much on my knee right after my injury. So, with a slow start, once I was able to get up in a tree hunting in Pennsylvania, I wasn’t seeing the mature does and bucks I was after. I had cows all over the property I was focused on so it seemed to keep most of the deer off the property for some reason. Once the rut came around, I finally got my chance at a good buck and hit the shoulder blade. There was a great blood trail but eventually, it dried up and I was never able to recover the deer. I ended up not getting a single deer this season.

On a positive note, my hunting partners all had an awesome season Austin, John, and Doug all shot great bucks and a few does. Andy was able to harvest a beautiful black bear and a handful of does. Also, all of us also killed it on the ducks and geese. The real icing on the cake was the last-minute snow hunts we had there at the end of the season. Overall, it was a great season as it was a lot of fun getting out with friends and family and having some success along the way while spending time in the great outdoors.

Thanks everyone for a great first year with BWA.
