Taxidermy Tip: Keeping Track of Animals

One thing that I wanted to focus on especially as my taxidermy business starts getting busy was implementing a tracking system of what animal goes to what customer. As you could imagine during the rut and gun season we will see multiple bucks a week and even a day, hunting licenses are great but during the cleaning process I have to take your tag off the animal. My solution for this was to buy cattle ear tags. Ear tags are extremely inexpensive, can be used year after year, and they are super durable. So what I do as soon as a deer comes into my taxidermy shop I will take metal wire and attach the ear tag to the rack of the deer. I take the tag number and will write it on your order form. Doing this helps make sure you are getting the right animal when its time for pickup.
